2008 Dacalier De La Terre
Tasting Notes:
“Of the Earth” is very appropriate for this sublime blend of Grenache, Carignan & Syrah from the Lake County AVA of California. It pours into your glass with the color and clarity of a beautiful Pinot Noir, but don’t let the translucence fool you. This wine has an earthy aroma of pencil lead, vanilla, strawberry and cream soda. The palate has a nice touch of acid with flavors of granite, slate, anise & spiced chai. As the wine opens up you get fresh raspberries and just a hint of cocoa.
Food Pairings:
This is a great food wine. It pairs well will just about anything off the grill, mushroom risotto, rotisserie chicken, heirloom tomato salad, braised short ribs, cassoulet; burgers topped with blue cheese.
